For ski enthusiasts, the ski season opens in November: from the town, a practical cable car can take you to Ciampedie at 2000 metres of altitude, a panoramic point which offers an amazing view of the mountains and the Pala group. A place worth visiting is the Institute of Ladin Culture to learn about this ancient Rhaeto‑Romance culture and language, still alive in these areas.

Tenno is a dreamlike place suspended between the lake with its Mediterranean climate and the surrounding mountains, a less crowded and particular destination for those who enjoy a mild climate and tranquillity. We recommend a picnic at Lake Tenno to admire its turquoise waters surrounded by the green of the woods and going on a food and wine tour to discover local delicacies such as carne salada. The town is involved in the Ecomuseo della Judicaria “Dalle Dolomiti al Garda”, which they contribute to taking care of vineyards and chestnut groves, terraced fields with the most northern olive groves in Europe, and the park of arts and crafts in the village of Canale di Tenno.

The Alpe Cermis ski lifts connect the town both with high panoramic points and the valley, which during the winter is crossed by the Marcialonga cross-country ski race and by the cycle path of the Dolomites in the summer. With more than 100 km of slopes, 3 equipped snow parks and two long luge tracks, Cavalese is the ideal place for winter sports lovers and families with children. We recommend visiting Parco della Pieve and the Palazzo Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, the institution which for centuries has been responsible for forest management in the Valley. It is also worth visiting the “Forest of violins” in Paneveggio with naturally resonating fir trees and a population of deer, the waterfall and the barns of Vanoi where you can learn about ancient peasant traditions.
